Position Overview
The Joint Chiropractic is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to join our accounting team. This leadership role will oversee the organization’s SEC reporting, technical accounting, and equity administration functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. As a trusted advisor to executive leadership, you will provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues, monitor evolving regulations, and enhance reporting processes to support the company's strategic goals and maintain investor confidence. This position offers a high level of responsibility and visibility within the organization, driving key financial operations with integrity and precision.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the preparation and filing of timely, accurate, and compliant SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy, Form 4, and other required disclosures, in collaboration with finance, legal, and investor relations teams.
• Research, document, and communicate the impact of current and emerging technical accounting issues, ensuring proper application of U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
• Provide strategic technical guidance on complex transactions and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure policies remain compliant and aligned with business practices.
• Oversee SOX compliance in key financial reporting areas, driving a culture of continuous improvement by identifying control enhancements and leveraging technology to streamline processes.
• Manage the administration of equity compensation programs, ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement internal controls for equity administration, ensuring accuracy in financial disclosures and collaborating with HR and the transfer agent.
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, addressing audit requests and driving timely resolutions.
Qualifications
• 7+ years' experience from a combination of Big 4 or other global accounting firm and industry SEC reporting & technical accounting experience at a public company
Expertise in preparing and filing SEC reports (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy statements) in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Proven ability to research and apply complex technical accounting principles to new transactions (e.g., ASC 606, goodwill, impairment, stock-based compensation).
• Understanding of equity administration and experience managing equity compensation programs.
• Experience with Workiva Wdesk or similar reporting tools is highly preferred.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical information to non-financial stakeholders.
• A results-oriented leader with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
This role follows a hybrid schedule and will require an in-office presence at our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters at least three days per week (Tuesday-Thursday).
